//[[001.Richard|Richard]]//1) of Norwalk, Conn., born 10 Oct. 1735,
died 1 May 1821; married at Norwalk, 6 Jan. 1757, LYDIA5 ST. JOHN,
born 8 Sept. 1737, died at Vergennes, Vt., 21 June 1829, daughter of
Moses4 (//James//3, //Matthias//2,
//Matthias//1) and Mercy (Olmstead).
He was, in 1775, Lieutenant in the 5th Connecticut Regiment, served in the New
York campaign. His wife was active as a nurse.
Administration upon the estate of William Seymour, late of Norwalk deceased,
granted to James Seymour of Norwalk, 8 Jan. 1822. Inventory taken 4 Jan. 1822,
presented by James Seymour, the administrator, 16 Jan. 1822. Estate was
insolvent.

He was a sea captain, and with a son aged twelve was drowned at Mogadon, Africa. He seems to have made his home in England. |

**WILLIAM6 SEYMOUR** (1760-1845) had five sons and five daughters, who
all married. The eldest son, William Ira7, born in Lanesboro, Mass.,
lived half a century in Burlington, Vt., and his son, Charles8 (born
1821), was publisher and editor of the LaCrosse (Wis.) //Republican//,
Postmaster of that city for twelve years, president of the oldest printers'
association in America, and for many years Consul at Canton, China.
**Henry7 Seymour** (1787-1865), second son of William6,
settled in St. Albans, Vt., married Eliza Fuller, and was father of Henry
Edmund8 (b. 1816), B.A. (Univ. of Vermont, 1835), a lawyer, Court
Auditor of Franklin County, Vt., who married Susan Katherine Hubbell.
**JULIUS HUBBELL9 SEYMOUR**, son of Henry Edmund8, born at St.
Albans, Vt., 30 Oct. 1855, educated at Phillips Academy, Andover, Mass.; (B.A.
Williams College, 1879); LL.B. //cum laude// (Columbia College Law School);
became a lawyer in New York City. He was governor and consul of the Camp Fire
Club of America; member of the N.Y. Legislature, 1901 and 1902 from the 19th
Assembly District, N.Y. City; and belonged to the 7th Regt., N.Y. City. He was a
Trustee of Hahnemann Hospital, president of the West Side Republican Club, and a
member of Union League Club, Alpha Delta Phi, and St. Maurice Fish and Game Club
(Quebec, Canada).
**EDMUND9 SEYMOUR**, another son of Henry Edmund8, born at St.
Albans, Vt., 3 Oct. 1858; educated at St. Albans Academy and Phillips Academy;
B.A. (Williams College, 1882); was captain of the football team and president of
the Athletic Association at Williams. He was engaged in the cattle business
eight years, and became a banker and broker at Tacoma, Wash., firm of Seymour,
Barto & Co., 1889, Seymour Bros. & Co., 1893, afterwards Edmund Seymour & Co.,
New York City, dealing chiefly in municipal and corporation bonds. He was vice-
president and director of Orleans County Quarry Co.; director of Ellensburgh
Water Supply Co., of Nebraska Land & Feeding Co., of Washington State Land Co.,
and of other corporations. He was a member of the board of governors, American
Bison Society, vice-president and governor of Lake Champlain Association, and
Trustee of Alpha Delta Phi fraternity, Williams College. He was treasurer and on
the board of governors of the Camp Fire Club of America, and a member of the
University Club (N.Y. City) and St. Maurice Fish and Game Club (Wayagomac,
Canada). He lived in Pelham Manor, N.Y., and had a summer home, "Bord-de-l'eau,"
Chazy, N.Y.
