baptized at West Hartford, Conn., 27 Jan. 1744, died 20 Oct. 1776
"of putrid fever, belonging to the army"; married at West Hartford,
13 June 1762, RHODA6 SEDGWICK, born about 1744, died at New
Hartford, N.Y., 20 Dec. 1828, daughter of William5 (//Jonathan//4,
//Samuel//3, //William//2, //Robert//1) and Elizabeth (Brace).
He served as Sergeant in Capt. Abraham Sedgwick's Company in
Col. Chester's Regiment which marched to New York under General
Lee in Jan. 1776, and was in the service from 19 Jan. to 28 Feb. 1776.
He served again as Sergeant under the same Captain, going to New
York in June 1776, and died during this enlistment. According to
family tradition he died at home while on a furlough on account of
illness.
Administration upon the estate of Elisha Seymour, Jr., late of
Hartford deceased was granted to his widow "Hulda" (//sic//, given
as Rhoda in Vol. 23, p. 122, Hartford Probate Records), with
Elisha Seymour of Hartford as surety; amount of inventory, £256.
4.4. The estate was insolvent.
Elisha Seymour, Jr., aged 17 years 8 months, son of Elisha
Seymour, Jr., late of Hartford deceased, chose Jonathan Sedgwick
of Hartford to be his guardian, 15 June 1780. Ambrose Seymour,
son of Elisha Seymour late of Hartford, chose Eli Seymour as his
guardian, 18 Jan. 1790. Edmund Seymour, a minor of about 15
years, son of Elisha Seymour late of Hartford, chose Theron Seymour
of Hartford as his guardian, 28 Dec. 1791.
His widow married second, 16 Apr. 1787, as his second wife, Abel
Andrus of Wethersfield, born 6 May 1735, died 11 May 1811.
