Ayres settled at Adams, Jefferson Co., N.Y., about 1821, and removed to Elyria,
Ohio, about 1834. He was a blacksmith and farmer, "a worthy Christian man." In
the War of 1812, he enlisted at Redfield, Oswego Co., N.Y., Oct. 1814, in the
New York Militia.
