died at New Orleans, La., 29 July 1883; married at Philadelphia, 31 July 1834,

Mr. Seymour settled in New Orleans, La., as a young man, and lived there over
fifty years. For more than thirty years he was a member of the firm of Stevens &
Seymour, wholesale stationers, and during that period bore the reputation of a
pure, honest and incorruptible man and merchant. He displayed a warm interest in
the welfare of his city and State, and on several occasions was appointed to
offices of trust and honor, the last of which was that of administrator of the
University of Louisiana.
Though mild and gentle in his manners, Mr. Seymour was a man of strong feelings,
positive opinions, determined will, and great decision of character.
