//[[001.Richard|Richard]]//<sup>1</sup>), born at Waterbury, Conn., 1 May 1742,
found drowned in a river 18 Nov. 1795, aged 54, at Watertown, Conn.; married
first, at Waterbury, 2 Apr. 1764, MARGARET LOTHROP, who died at Watertown, 26
Dec. 1771, daughter of John, of Nova Scotia; married second,. 4 Mar. 1773, PHEBE
BRONSON, born 30 Mar. 1754, died at Medina, Ohio, in 1835, daughter of Capt.
Amos and Anna (Blakeslee). She married, second, in 1803, Stephen Sanford.

A grandson states that he was active in the Revolutionary War as a captain of
militia. "He was engaged in the battle of White Plains, where he was wounded in
the leg. He did good service at Norwalk; and reached Saratoga just too late to
participate in the glory and danger of that brilliant engagement." He was
commissioned Lieutenant, Apr. 1780, so his prior service was in the ranks.

Thomas Fenn, Esq., and Phebe Seymour both of Watertown were appointed
administrators of the estate of Joash Seymour late of Watertown dec'd, 21 Dec.
1795. Inventory of above estate taken 30 Dec. 1795 by Darius Scovet, Samuel
Reynolds and Abner Bradley.

Distribution of the estate of Joash Seymour late of Watertown made 18 Nov. 1796,
between widow Phebe Seymour, heirs of Amos Seymour dec'd, Richard Seymour, Mary
wife of Abraham Scott, Miles Seymour, Jacob Seymour, Margaret Seymour, John
Seymour, Joel Seymour, and Lothrop Seymour.

Mrs. Phebe Seymour was appointed administratrix of the estate of Margaret
Seymour late of Watertown dec'd, 5 June 1797. Inventory taken 22 June 1797.
Items: a right in the house of Capt. Joash Seymour dec'd, land butting on that
belonging to the heirs of Richard Seymour dec'd, bounded west on John Seymour's
land.

Distribution of above estate made 25 Jan. 1798 between the heirs of Amos Seymour
dec'd, Richard Seymour, Molly wife of Abraham Scott, Miles Seymour, Jacob
Seymour, John Seymour, Joel Seymour, and Lathrop Seymour.
