 +**AUGUSTUS SHERRILL<sup>8</sup> SEYMOUR** (1836-1897) was graduated from Hamilton College,
 +Clinton, N.Y., July 1857, and from Prof. Theodore Dwight's Law School, 1858. He
 +settled in Newbern, N. C; where he practised his profession. He was a member of
 +the N.C. House of Representatives, 1868, 1869, and 1870; elected to the
 +Constitutional Convention in 1871; State Senator, 1872, 1873, and 1874. He was
 +appointed Judge of the Criminal Court of the City of Newbern in 1868; resigned
 +same year. He was elected Judge of the Superior Court in 1874.
