+ | Seymour enlisted in the Seventh Ohio Vols., and was at once made Captain of his | ||

+ | field of battle. At the battle of Antietam, the command of his regiment devolved | ||
+ | for a time on Major Seymour, all his superior officers being either killed or | ||
+ | wounded. From the close of the war until 1869, Major Seymour lived in Ohio, | ||
+ | returning then to West Hartford. There he served several years as selectman, was | ||
+ | Representative from West Hartford in the General Assembly of 1871, and was for a | ||
