+MAJOR FREDERICK A.8 SEYMOUR (1819-1903) spent his younger manhood in
+Ohio, where his family had settled. At the outbreak of the Civil War, Mr.
+Seymour enlisted in the Seventh Ohio Vols., and was at once made Captain of his
+company, later receiving his com-mission as Major for gallant conduct on the
+field of battle. At the battle of Antietam, the command of his regiment devolved
+for a time on Major Seymour, all his superior officers being either killed or
+wounded. From the close of the war until 1869, Major Seymour lived in Ohio,
+returning then to West Hartford. There he served several years as selectman, was
+Representative from West Hartford in the General Assembly of 1871, and was for a
+time a deputy sheriff. He was a member of Wyllys Lodge, A.F. and A.M., and of
 +Robert O. Tyler Post, G.A.R.
