born at West Hartford, Conn., 20 Sept. 1782, died at Mt. Morris, N.Y., 12 Dec.
1859; married first, at Herkimer, N.Y., 4 Sept. 1805, MARY HOPKINS, born at
Boston, Mass., 13 Feb. 1780, died at Herkimer, 23 Aug. 1808; married second, at
Herkimer, 31 Dec. 1815, LYDIA KELSEY, born at Killingworth, Conn., 24 Apr. 1782,
died at Mt. Morris, N.Y., 29 June 1857, daughter of Asa and Submit (Wright).

He settled in Herkimer, N.Y., in 1804, and there followed his trade of hatter
until 1821, when he removed to Rome, N.Y. In 1842 he settled in Mt. Morris,
N.Y., and engaged in mercantile pursuits with his eldest son.
