 +**RALPH FLETCHER<sup>10</sup> SEYMOUR** (1876) was educated at La Porte High 
 +School; studied architecture and figure at Cincinnati Art Academy; in Europe and 
 +Italy, 1903, 1913 and 1927; newspaper artist, 1898--9; publisher, Chicago, since 
 +1899, designing type, borders, initials, etc., and issuing numerous fine 
 +editions of classics of English and foreign literature, privately printed. 
 +Instructor in composition and illustration, Art Institute of Chicago, 1907--17; 
 +etcher. Member and officer of Chicago Etchers Society, exhibiting his work at 
 +all general exhibitions. His etchings are in the permanent collections of the 
 +Sorbonne, Paris, Art Institute of Chicago, National Arts Club, Washington, and 
 +New York Public Library. He is secretary of the Chicago Indian Rights 
 +Association.  He was twice awarded the Hoosier Art Salon prize for etchings, 
 +also the Chicago Etchers Society prize for etching. He is author of //Across the 
 +Gulf.// Club: Cliff Dwellers.
