==== John MCDONALD & Emilie MCDONALD ==== Father: **John MCDONALD**, (son of John MCDONALD), b. ABT 1756, Glamis Angus Scotland, d. Dies prior to 1855 John and Amelia/Emilia/Emilie McDonald are confirmed as Donald's parents on Donalds death certificate. . from the index 367 367 Glamis 289/0037 19 Oct 1855 Donald McDonald 74 Parents John McDonald Emlie McDonald wife Isabella Malcolm %% %%I have estimated John's birth year based on his wifes birth year and a logical assumption that he was probably 20 or so at time of his marriage. Although he obviously could be older or younger than his bride most genealogies base about dates on this when no other info is available. There is a John McDonald born in 1752 to a John McDonald in Glenisla, Angus Scotland. This is a decent possible. Glenisla parish does not immediately border Glamis where some of this family is later from. However it is in the same county and quite near Kincaldrum and the Inverarity parish where Daniel McDonald later works at West Mains farm. So it is a possible for the father of this John McDonald. . That John McDonald has been listed as only a possible and put on here as this is the only John McDonald born in all of Angus County around that date. However, it must be said that birth records in the early and mid 1700's even in some parishes in the late 1700's are not that complete. It has been included just in case this record disappears from the internet. The ancestral file on Family Search lists this mans mother only as Mrs John McDonald and I have recorded it as such. It is probably a way of saying unknown name of woman but that he was indeed married. . .This John McDonald who is the father of Donald is listed as a Miller as his occupation on Donald's death certificate and he is listed as dead by 1855 when Donald dies. Marriage info of Donald parents copied directly from actual records Ross Cameron Tay Valley historical society. Parish of Kettins, Forfarshire, 1772: "John McDonald in parish of Glammis & Emilia McDonald in this parish, proclaimed pro 1mo December 13th, pro 2ndo & 3tio December 20th and married December 24th". I suspect that John and Emelie had more than just one child. Donald may very well have had siblings.Birth records in the 1700's are scarce and indeed a birth record for Donald has not been found. In the 1834 Census for Glamis parish there are many McDonalds. There is a John McDonald in Charleston village in Glamis and this could be Donalds father still alive in 1834. He would have been in his 80's. It also though could be a brother or cousin of Donald. There are also a Robert McDonald and a William McDonald in Glamis village in Glamis parish in that same 1834 census. Because it only gives head of household name it is hard to tell even the age. These could be additional brothers of Donalds or again cousins. Donald does name male children both John and William. In Scottish naming patterns later male children are often named after father's brothers. The entire 1834 Census can be viewed in Donald McDonalds notes due to the fact that it may disappear from online and the many of the names in Glamis may mean something at a later date. It is a lengthy file but was worth including. Mother: **Emilie MCDONALD**, (daughter of Angus MCDONALD), b. 6 Mar 1754, Kettins parish Angus, d. Dies prior to 1855 Emilie is listed variously as Emilie, Amelia and Emelia. She is confirmed as Donalds mother on his death certificate and is also listed as deceased by his death in 1855 probably much earlier. . Her parents are proved on an ancestral file documented on Family search. Her parents are Isabel Doig and Angus McDonald. She also has a brother named Daniel which may be the first time that is known of this first name , carried through at least twice more in generations. John and Amelia's son Donald (Daniel) who also has a son named Peter who names his first son Daniel. Married 24 Dec 1772, Kettins parish Angus Child: - Donald MCDONALD, b.
