Father: Laurenthis “Lorenz'“Mathias HELLER, (son of (Private)), b. 1 Aug 1817, Waldowo Formerly,Waldau,Old West, , , Preussen, d. 7 Mar 1892
. This name is also spelled Hela on ancestral file. According to the ancestral file this man was nicknamed Lorenz. That name and the alternate spelling of this name led to the identification of the family coming to Castlegarden station . See below . Also there is an ancestral file probably the same one identifying Lorenz's parents. Someone has done a great deal of work on this ancestral file. The only discrepancy I can see is that they have Elizabeth Flemming dying in the 1880;s however she could have come over with other children or other relatives as cost thing. Castlegarden records are not complete online so her records could still be coming. It is an excellent file. Also recent info has put this family's immigration to the US as May 16 1866. They departed from Bremen port and it shows there legal residence as a place called Sossnowd Prussia. They came on the ship Johanna. While not all the children come with them the youngest three are accounted for Anna, Andreas and Rosa or Rosalia. The older children are of marriageable age and probably remained in Germany with their own families. Mother: Elizabeth “Lizzie” FLEMMING, b. 20 Aug 1814, Waldowo Formerly,Waldau,Old West, , , Preussen, d. 3 Oct 1889
. For some reason Elizabeth does not come over with Laurenthal or Lorenz and the other three children Anna, Andreas and Rosalie in 1866. At first I thought perhaps she was deceased, however the ancestral file gives her date of death as 1880 and is rather specific about it. Two things should be noted, it is possible that Elizabeth came later with some of the older children also not on the 1866 Manifest. And also it should be noted that the Castlegarden site does not have all the manifests online, so it is even possible that Elizabeth and the older children came before her husband and the younger children,. It is not altogether unusual for families to come in spurts due to monetary concerns.
