Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, September 4, at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Stanberry, MO; burial in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Stanberry. Visitation will be from 9-10:30 a.m. Saturday, at the church. Local visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, September 2, at McGilley Midtown Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Kansas City Police Benefit Assoc., or a charity of your choice. Mr. Wessley was born March 11, 1918, in the Kansas City area. He was a Kansas City, MO, police officer for 30 years, retiring in 1972 as a corporal. He was a member of Redemptorist Church in Kansas City, the Kansas City Police Benefit Assoc., and the F.O.P. He also was a founding member of Elam Bend expedition Co. He was preceded in death by his parents and one granddaughter, Sheila Wessley. Kansas City Star, The (MO) - December 5, 2000 Deceased Name: MARJORIE L. WESSLEY Marjorie L. Wessley, 79, Kansas City, MO, passed away Sunday, December 3, 2000, at the Manor of Kansas City. Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 6, at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Stanberry, MO; burial in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Stanberry. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at McGilley Midtown Chapel, 20 W. Linwood, Kansas City, MO, where a prayer service will be at 6:15 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kansas City Police Benefit Association. Mrs. Wessley was born September 20, 1921, in Stanberry, MO, to James and Gertrude McCarty. She was a longtime member of Redemptorist Catholic Church and also the Daughters of the American Revolution. After graduating from high school, she met Roy Wessley Jr. at Katz Drug Store in Midtown. They were married in 1947. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, granddaughter, Sheila Wessley, four brothers, and three sisters. She is survived by one son, Charles & wife Jan Wessley of Kansas City, MO; brother, Charles McCarty of Stanberry, MO; two sisters, Clara Colette Wise of Kansas City, KS, and Mary K. Harris of Wichita, KS; four grandchildren, Tom Wessley, Doug & wife Valorie Wessley, Amy & husband Thomas Divine, and Chad Wessley; and one great-granddaughter, Kristin Wessley.
