Alexander MCDONALD, (son of Donald MCDONALD), b. 18 Apr 1822, Hayston Angus Scotland
Unfortunately on the actual record of Donalds death certificate where it lists whether children are alive at time of Donalds death in 1855 or dead, Alexander's name is in the crease and even the index states this so that when the page is transcribed from a filmed entry it was impossible to read. I have found no marriage for an Alexander McDonald of this age range in Angus or Perth,. While there are a few on the census around his age in 1841 there is no identifying info to tell us that this is him, where his is born etc. However in 1851 there are no Alexander McDonalds in Angus County nor a death certificate for an Alexander McDonald of that age in all of Scotland who is from Glamis. . This indicates that he was probably dead by the time of his father's passing in 1855. It is possible that he went to England, Canada , US but it is said that the first McDonald of this line to to the the US was David in the next generation. Also at 19 as a farmers son, he would not have had a lot of money to go yet. The mortality rate in Scotland was high and Donald and Isabel Malcolm, his parents had lost at least seven of their ten children by Donald's death in 1855.
