My father was close to this particular uncle and talked about him often when I was a child. He was known to my father by his nickname Duke and therefore his uncle Duke, Even though I was born only one year prior to Henry's death, I heard about him throughout my childhood. My father remembered him as a man with a great sense of humor and fun. Later as a child I named a dog Duke after him, a man I had never met to honor my Dad's uncle and because my Dad had a dog named Duke as a child. Interesting aside note the name Henry Newton goes way back in Elizabeth Smyth Seymour's family. Her brother was named Henry Newton Smyth who was also named after his uncle Henry Newton Smyth who named after another uncle Henry Newton Creekmore.who was born in 1808 thus this first and middle name was perputuated for nearly one hundred years.and four generations.
