Edward(4) Ryan

EDWARD4 RYAN (EDWARD3, THOMAS2, EDWARD1) was born Bet. 1760 - 1780 in Ballinakill, Ireland, and died in Blackhall, Ireland. He married ABIGAIL KEOGH February 28, 1803, daughter of JOHN KEOGH. She was born Bet. 1761 - 1785 in Mt. Jerome, Ireland.

Notes for EDWARD RYAN:
They had 10 children, including Edward George.

Catholic, he was the second son of the Ryan family of Ballinakill – thus no inheritance in the family lands.

At the time of Edward George's birth (1810), he was a prosperous country gentleman, owner of lands purchased in part with money he and his wife had inherited.

Deed dated July 6, 1811 between Edward Ryan, Newcastle, County Meath and Cornelius Keogh, late of Torbury in Saxony, but then in the city of Dublin

Between the Peace of 1815 and the passage of the Corn laws, he was ruined, as he owed money on the land. He moved from Enfield, and then rented Blackhall in County Kildare, where he lived until shortly before his death, barely able to support his large family. Fortunately, John Keogh had left an annuity to Abigail Keogh Ryan for the purpose of schooling her ten children, each of whom received an excellent education.
