Stearman, 92, of Roeland Park, KS, passed away Thursday February 13, 2003, at the home. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 18, at the St. Pius X Catholic Church. Entombment in Highland Park Mausoleum. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the Simmons Funeral Home, where the Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Mrs. Stearman was born November 20, 1910 in First View, CO. She was employed as a secretary to the superintendent at the International Paper Company from 1938 to 1951. Mrs. Stearman was Director of Women's Chamber of Commerce of Kansas City, KS from 1933-35, ran the Women's City Tennis Tournament in 1934; was Secretary to the Commissioner of Parks in Kansas City, KS from 1928-35; Secretary to the Engineer of Wyandotte County Lake 1936-38. Mrs. Stearman spent time with her husband, Farris J. “Bud” Stearman an erector for the Combustion Engineering Company, in Spain three different times for a total of three years. She spent one year in Japan and two different times, one year each in Buenos Aires Argentina and belonged to the American Womens Club while there. Mrs. Stearman belonged to the Mission Bridge Club and the Prairie Village Bridge Club, both for 17 years. Mrs. Stearman was a member of the St. Pius X Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Farris J. “Bud” Stearman in 1986, a sister, Verna Garlington and a niece, Diana Piersee in 2001. Surviving are a sister, Lila Schupbach, San Diego, CA; three nephews, Warren Piersee, Shawnee, KS, Leslie Garlington, Lansing, KS and Albert Schupbach, Austin, TX; and three nieces, Marlene Wasmer Phoenix, AZ, Lila Webb, San Diego, CA and Lita Zschoche, Glencoe, MO.
