Father: Samuel NORTHCOTT, b. 1853, Canada, d. 1923
I believe that the parents of Samuel Northcott are Samuel Northcott and a woman named Affa Standart. The 1880 Census has a couple in Iowa (Cerro Gordo County Mason City ) where Samuel is born according to his census as an adult and the man Samuel is born in Canada just where Samuel says his father was born. Also the son on the Iowa census is listed as Jay which would mean Samuel went by his middle name as his middle name was Jay(confirmed on his draft card_WWI ). This child is exactly the age of Samuel the son. This couple also lived in Clayton County Iowa in 1885 Census. Later, this couple Samuel and Affa are living in St Louis Missourin 1900.. In 1910 this couple is in St Louis Missouri.,under the spelling Northcutt on the census. Samuel advises he is a woodworker, at a carriage factory, however in 1920 he and his wife Affa are in Wisconsin, Madison township County Dane County. He is working as a body builder at an automotive garage. He advises he immigrated from Canada in 1869 and was naturalized in 1875, Another tie to this couple is that they end up back in Madison Wisconsin which is where their granddaughter Dorothia Northcott was born as well. Samuel reports his parents were both born in England.
Mother: Affa T — Standart, (daughter of Charles C STANDART), b. 16 Nov 1852, Prairie Du Chen Wisconsin, d. 11 Apr 1937, St Louis Missouri
According to a World Connect file Affa remarries a man named William Schaff after Samuel dies in 1923. And this is verified by her death certificate where she herself dies in 1937 at the age of 83 of ovarian cancer. The individual who signs her death certificate is her eldest son Samuel J Northcott.who was living in St Louis at the time obviously. Her parents are confirmed on a World Connect as Charles Standart or Standard and his wife Sarah Cunningham. and she can also be found as a child of 14 on the 1870 Census in Wisconsin with those parents.
