Samuel is listed as Dorothia's father on her obituary and indeed there is a Samuel J Northcott in Wyandotte County 80th precinct, in 1920 Census. Samuel's father is listed as being born in Canada and for his mother he has just advised she was born somewhere in the US. In 1920 he is with his wife Nola, children Samuel J, Dorothia, Charles A. In 1910 he and Nola are living in Jackson County Missouri right across the border with no children and not even married a full year. In 1910 he was working at Southern Railroad according to the census. Note Samuel's middle name is confirmed on his draft registeration card for World War I. It is indeed Jay and is what he went by as a child on all his childhood census probably to differentiate him from his father in that household. His draft card was filed in Dane County Wisconsin. Note one Iowa census gives Samuel's birth year as closer to 1875.

Maiden name is given as Douglas on daughter Dorothia's obituary. Her birth info from 1920 Census Wyandotte County Kansas. In 1920 Nola advises her parents are both born in Iowa.
