This is the aunt who gave myself and my sister and other cousins most of the basis family history details. While other aunts and my mother, knew some information , I would say Aunt LaVon had the most extensive knowledge and a keen interest. She was a very sharp woman, who loved movies, books and who was a night owl. She loved holidays and often had extended family gatherings. When I was a child she often took me and cousins out to lunch and a movie and we returned to her house for her famous watered down “child” coffee. She recalled local stories of such women as Jean Harlow and Joan Crawford(the later according to her being somewhat of a legendary hussy. ) While my mother and other aunts had info I am grateful to her for hours of storytelling and family history that allowed myself and my sister and others to do further research. She turned out to be right on most details. I also want to acknowledge my affection and thanks to LaVon's granddaughters Lisa and Gayle Schwarzenholz for their patience, enthusiasm and support in finishing this genealogy. They were extremely helpful on the Schwarzenholz's and held many family stories I was unaware of. I know we are all quite proud to have McDonald Ritchie Whalen blood in common.!!
