David dies prior to 1841 as he is not on the census with his wife and children in 1841 and Julia “Jilly” Piggott his wife reverted to her maiden name ..
Mother: Julia “Gilly or July PIGGOT, (daughter of John PIGGOT), b. Around 1785, Carmyllie Angus, d. 25 Oct 1858
There is no birth record for Julia Piggott who often went by Gilly , which may be a odd spelling for Julie or her nickname. .Parents are a best possible based on her birth location as Carmyllie parish in Forfarshire/Angus In 1781 parish there is one Piggott marriage of a John Piggott and Margaret Lowsen. (Ironically her biological grandchild Daniel McDonald uses the Lowsen middle name for his child Andrew Lowsen.which is also found in the Ritchie genealogy. ) . On her death certificate she is listed as July. In 1841 Census she is living in her son, John's house. And listed as Gilly Pegget. She is living in 1851 Census in Dundee's second district which is where her daughter Margaret Crockett Adamson also lives. Julia is listed as a book store worker. She has two boarders whose names are not easy to make out. She is listed as 66 years old in 1851 making her born around 1785. She lists her birth place as Carmyllie in Angus/ Forfarshire. In 1858 she dies of Gastric fever which she has had for 2 weeks. Her son John indicates she will be buried in Logie in Dundee City. Her parents are not named on the death certificate only one as Piggot and then unknown parents. Piggott is the old English spelljng of Pyott.
