This is the oldest child. of Andrew and Margaret Gordon. On Family Search an ancestral file gives his birth location as Whiffet Scotland. However, indications are that because of the extracted birth filmed record which indicates Old Monkland which is near Whifflet Scotland , this is probably what the submitter meant. Peter is named after his grandfather as is Scottish custom, naming first son after father's father. Not always a custom followed but common.. Peter joins the Illinois St Andrews Society in 1909 , at the age of 34 His sponsor is John Williamson like his father. He gives his birthplace as Whifflet, Coatsbridge Lanarkshire. His lists his occupation as a clerk and his work address as 157th and Michigan which is probably the Gas Company as on the census for 1910 he lists his employer as Clark Gas Company. Peter and his first wife Alice Lancaster live at three different addresses, 178 Maplewood Avenue, 1265 Kimball Avenue and then later on Ballou St . All are in Cook County Illinois within Chicago City limits. He marries Alice Lancaster on Oct 14, 1896 in Cook County. After Alice's death he marries a woman named Margaret whom predeceases him. Peter died at the ripe old age of 97 in Florida He is buried May 17 in Lot 308 Greenwood section Location Northwest corner Montrose Cemetery. Chicago Illinois. The only thing known about Alice Lancaster is her info from the census in 1900 , 1910 and 1920 Cook County Illinois . She was born about 1876 as her age is 24 on the first 1900 census. Her parents were listed as both being born in England . For a time in 1910 Alice's widowed mother Mary Lancaster age 60 lives with Peter and Alice as does a niece Myrtle A Lancaster who is born in Illinois and whose parents are listed as being born in CA and England. this is at the residence at 1265 Kimball Avenue. Also, I have located Alice's obituary in the Chicago papers. By the time of her death she and her husband had moved to St Petersburg FL. 1950-11-18 Alice is buried in Montrose cemetery and died at 76 years old in Florida . SHe is buried in the same lot as her husband Peter C MacDonald. Lot 308 section Greenwood Center Front.
