ZADOC5 SEYMOUR (Stephen4, Ebenezer3, Richard2, Richard1), born at Waterbury, Conn., 30 Apr. 1757, died at Pompey, Onondaga Co., N.Y., 2 Nov. 1845; living in 1840, a pensioner, aged 83, at Pompey; married at Norfolk, Conn., 19 Jan. 1786, NAOMI5 MUNGER, born at Norfolk, 16 July 1765, died 24 Nov. 1840, daughter of Reuben and Elizabeth (Dudley).

He enlisted in the Revolutionary Army at Waterbury in Jan. 1777, marched to New Haven where he was taken with small-pox, and was there until he recovered in April. He then joined his company at Peekskill, in June marched to New Brunswick, and was in Washington's Army until Jan. 1780, when he was discharged at Morristown, N.J. He lived in Watertown, Conn., two or three years after the war, then removed to Norfolk, Conn., from there in 1790 to Galway, Saratoga Co., N.Y., where he remained seven years; then lived in Sherburne, Chenango Co., N.Y., until 1802, when he settled in Pompey.

(2) 3 Jan. 1844, LYDIA HALL, b. 19 Aug. 1806, dau. of John C. and Clara (Conkling). He was probably the Henry Seymour who was a Paymaster in the Onondaga County Militia, 1809, Brigade Quartermaster, 1809 to 1819, and Division Inspector, 1819.
Only child, by first wife:
1. Charlotte M7, b. 3 Oct. 1819; d. 27 Jan. 1843; m. 14 Sept. 1836, James R. Lewis. Two children; the only son was killed in the Civil War.
ii. ANNA, b. at Norfolk, 26 Oct. 1788; m. JAMES COVELL, of Junius, N.Y.
iii. NORMAN, b. at Galway, Saratoga Co., N.Y. 30 Mar. 1790; drowned; res. Albany, N.Y.; m. CYNTHIA LAMPHERE. Only child, a son, d. young.
iv. NAOMI MAHALA, b. in Saratoga Co., 31 May 1792; living (1882) at Somerville, Mass.;1) m. 1813, SAMUEL SLOAN, who d. at Seneca Falls, N.Y., 1858, s. of Israel and Rebecca.
v. REUBEN, b. 23 Mar. 1794; d. 18 July 1873; m. 1 Jan. 1817, ALMIRA HAYNES, b. abt. 1795, living 1878. He served in the War of 1812. They lived at Pompey Hill and other places in N.Y. State, and for thirty years at Clinton, Iowa, where he died.
vi. AMY, b. 12 Jan. 1796; d. at LeRoy, N.Y., 7 May 1837, ae, 41; m. 8 Nov. 1815, HARVEY7 HATCH, b. 19 Apr. 1792, d. at Sturgis, Mich., 21 May 1863, s. of Timothy6 (Timothy5, Timothy4, Benjamin3, Jonathan2, Thomas1) and Abigail (Porter).
vii. JAMES, b. 6 Nov. 1797; d. at Covington, Wyoming Co., N.Y., 21 Oct. 1857; m. in 1821, SUSAN OSTRANDER, who d. 14 Oct. 1854, dau. of Peter and Clarissa (Fordham). Nine children; two sons died while serving as soldiers in the Civil War.2)

A real Daughter of the Revolution, at the age of ninety she carried on a vigorous correspondence with Miss Mary Kingsbury Talcott. Her daughter Susan Sophia Sloan married George O. Brastow, Mayor of Somerville and State Senator.

The eldest son, Silas James Seymour, of Reedsburg, Wis., was a member of the Wisconsin Legislature, 1876 and 1877.
