41. Matthew Seymour

41. MATTHEW5 SEYMOUR (Thomas4, Matthew3, Thomas2, Richard1), living probably at Salem, Westchester Co., N.Y., in 1790, but there are no deeds or probate at the county seat; died at Butternuts, N.Y.; married at New Canaan, Conn., 28 Feb. 1758, DINAH BOUTON.

Children, three born at Ridgefield, two at New Canaan, Conn.:
i. NATHAN6, b. 15 Apr. 1758; living 1840, a pensioner, aged 84. at Burlington, Vt.; m. at Hadley. Mass., 27 Apr. 1780, ELIZABETH5 WARNER, b. at Hadley, 29 Dec. 1753, d. there 12 Dec. 1822, dau, of Orange4 (Jacob3, Jacob2, Andrew1) and Elizabeth (Graves). He enlisted in Jan. 1776, at Westfield, Mass., in Col. Larned's Regt., Mass. Line, for one year, saw service near Boston and New York, was in the battle of Long Island and retreat from New York, and at Trenton. He was waiter to Lt.-Col. Shepherd, but saw active service. He joined Washington in December; “our shoes being worn out you might mark our footsteps by the blood from our feet.” He was discharged Feb. 1777. He was of Plattsburgh, N.Y., in 1818 and 1822, and by 1833 had removed to Burlington, Vt., to reside with his son William. Seven children.
ii. DANIEL, b. 21 Apr. 1760; d. at Butternuts, N.Y., 5 Feb. 1831; m. (1) at Stamford, Conn., 25 Sept. 1782, MARY BATES, b. at Stamford, Conn., 6 Feb. 1761, d. at Albany, 22 Feb. 1813, dau. of Samuel and Ann (Morehouse); m. (2) 22 Nov. 1814, ANN DECENIA OAKEY, b. at New Brunswick, N.J., 31 Jan. 1792, d. 9 Sept. 1848. Ten children.1)
iii. MEDAD, b. 10 Dec. 1761; d. at Stamford, Conn., 22 Jan. 1825; m. at Stamford, 4 Dec. 1791, SARAH HOLLY, b. at Stamford, 7 May 1766, d. at Newark, Ohio, 30 Sept. 1838, dau. of Nathan and Hannah. Nine children.
iv. MATTHEW, bapt, 15 Apr. 1764; m. and settled in Cortland Co., N.Y.
v. URIAH, bapt, 8 June 1766; d. at Stamford, Conn., 10 May 1852, ae. 84; m. at New Canaan, 11 May 1788, OLIVE WATERBURY, who d. at Ridgefield, 16. May 1812, ae. 45, dau. of Thomas. Eight children.
