53. Seth Seymour

53. SETH5 SEYMOUR (John4, John3, Thomas2, Richard1), of Norwalk, Conn., died before 16 June 1777, when the inventory of his estate was exhibited; married ANNA5 BENEDICT, born at Norwalk in 1740, died before 26 Mar. 1794, when the children joined in a deed disposing of the widow's thirds, daughter of Nathaniel4 (John3, John2, Thomas1).

Inventory of the estate of Capt. Seth Seymour, late of Norwalk, taken by Samuel Gruman and John Lockwood and exhibited at court 16 June 1777. Amount, ?332-8-8.

i. SETH6, b. abt. 1762; d. at Norwalk. Conn., 11 May 1849; m. (1) 3 Apr. 1789, POLLY5 READ, b. 1768, d. at Norwalk, 18 Nov. 1823, dau. of Matthew4 (William3, John2, John1) and Elizabeth (Kellogg); m. (2) at Norwalk, 11 May 1829, SARAH (BOUTON) RAYMOND, b. at Norwalk, 7 June 1781, d. at New Rochelle, N.Y., 4 Feb. 1871, widow of Nehemiah Raymond, dau. of William and Sarah (Benedict) Bouton. Four children. He enlisted in 1779 in Capt. Uriah Raymond's Co. at Norwalk, and served guarding the coast until the end of the Revolutionary War.

iii. NATHANIEL, b. 1767; d. at Stockbridge, Mass., 31 Aug. 1863, ae. 96 y. 3 m. 27 d.; m. at Stockbridge, 14 June 1795, ANNA6 WILLARD, b. at Stockbridge, 24 Sept. 1772, d. there 11 July 1842, dau. of Benjamin5 (John4, Simon3, Josiah2, Simon1) and Naomi (Hale). Three children.
iv. LEVI, of Lanesborough, Mass.; m. SARAH BRISTOL WRIGHT, b. 16 Nov. 1781, d. at Lanesborough, 14 Apr. 1861.
v. ANNA, b. 12 Jan. 1772; d. (survived her husband); m. at Norwalk, 20 Feb. 1793, LEWIS MALLORY, b. 1 Oct. 1768, d. at Norwalk, 21 July 1848.
vi. ALMIRA (or ALMY), d. at Norwalk, 23 Aug. 1863; m. at Norwalk, 24 Sept. 1794, ISAAC6 BOUTON, b. at Norwalk, 20 Nov. 1771, d. there 21 July 1854, s. of William5 (Joseph4, Jachin3, Joseph2, John1) and Sarah (Benedict).

A John Seymour m. at Orwell, Rutland Co., Vt., 4 Aug. 1796, Lydia Catting; he wascalled into service in Sept. 1812, at Warren, Genesee Co., N.Y., and d. in service 24 Nov.1812, on the Niagara Frontier. Lydia m. (2) Hezekiah Scovill, and was living 1855, ae. 75,at Amherst, Erie Co., N.Y.
