69. Daniel Seymour

69. CAPT. DANIEL5 SEYMOUR (Daniel4, John3, John2, Richard1), born at Hartford, Conn.. 19 July 1730, died there 7 Nov. 1815 aged 85; married in 1750, LYDIA KING, born in 1735, died 1 Apr. 1827, daughter of Robert and Elizabeth (Barnard).

He was eighteen at marriage, and his bride fifteen. They moved into a house on the comer of what is now Washington Street and Retreat Avenue, and lived there until they died. The house was afterwards sold to the Retreat for the Insane. Daniel was appointed Captain of the Alarm List in Hartford, in the 1st Regt., Feb. 1778.

Will of Daniel Seymour, Sr., of Hartford, dated 12 May 1813, proved 28 Nov. 1815, bequeathed estate to my wife; to two daughters, Lydia and Elizabeth, who are unmarried; to two daughters, Mary wife of Samuel Webster, and Sally wife of John Robbins; to daughter Tabitha wife of Samuel Camp; to grandson Chester Seymour, son of my son Asa deceased (he is under age); to two sons Daniel and Jonathan. Witnessed by Thomas Seymour and Michael Seymour. The amount of the inventory was $2231.25.

Will of Lydia Seymour of Hartford dated 2 July 1828, proved 1 Aug. 1828. My father Daniel Seymour gave my sister Elizabeth Barnard1) more than to the others. Estate to be divided among my three sisters Elizabeth Barnard, Sally Robbins and Tabitha Camp. My brother-in-law Samuel Camp to be executor.

ii. MARY, b. 15, bapt. 19 May 1754; d. at Schaghticoke, N.Y., Oct. 1832; m. 2 Mar. 1786, SAMUEL6 WEBSTER, b. at Hartford in 1749, d. at Schaghticoke. N.Y., 9 May 1813 in 64th year, s. of Matthew5 (Ebenezer4, John3, Robert2, John1) and Mabel (Pratt). Five children.
