However his 2nd wife was Roberta Kay Ryan according to the newspaper the Houston Herald. While the spelling of the middle name is different, on family websites the newspaper several times confirms it is the same spelling of Whalen. it is perhaps a sign that the name was given to Trafford Cooper because of Trafford Whalen who is Daniel McDonald;s grandson. , So it is quite possible that the families of Daniel McDonald in Lawrence County Missouri later in Kansas City KS and the William McDonald family descendants in Texas County Missouri did have contact of some kind. Trafford is an unusual name and it seems like more than coincidence that the middle and last names of both of these boys is Whalen. While the mothes are first cousins, Ann McDonald and Maggie McDonald, perhaps the two of them both liked the first name of Trafford. Supposedly according to family legend Trafford Whalen the grandson of Daniel McDonald was given his first name because his mother Ann McDonald Whalen read a book with the name Trafford in it. Trafford does not show up in any books listed as a character on a online search however, there is a Trafford Publishing Company that publishes many Scottish books and periodicals among them the Scottish Gazeteer. Many Scottish immigrants took these periodicals But the middle name is .a curious coincidence , one too many and led to the discovery of Maggie McDonald as Maggie Cooper, Maggie Cooper being Trafford's mother.on the 1930 Census.

On the Cooper genealogies of Benjamin Cooper and World Connect for this family Traffords wife first name is not given due to privacy reasons and it is claimed she is still alive. However, some of the individuals who on that genealogy who are supposedly still alive as of 2005 are indeed passed away as evidenced by new info from Texas County cemetery records . His wifes first names comes from a stone that says Roger Allan Cooper son of Trafford and Kay Cooper. I have taken it from there and assume the info that her last name is Emery is correct.
