Elias Piersee, Sarah and two other children James H(whom I believe is later called by his middle name of Hiriam ) and Charles R appear on the 1870 Census in the township of Dora Illinois.in Moultrie County. ( The son James H is the exact same age as the child later called Hiriam) . .I believe this is Elias In Illinois for several reasons. . Everything fits. He is 24 years old which puts his age perfectly where it is in 1880 when he is 35 . This Elias is also born in Indiana just like the 1880 Elias. Also his wife Sarah has the same middle initial of D and is born in Missouri and her age in 1870 is 20 making her about 29 in 1880. which is just about right. The children are born in Missouri as well Elias is a farmer in 1870 Census On the 1900 Census the son Marion A is listed as having been born in 1872 in Illinois proving that yes Elias Piersee and Sarah were in Illinois around early 1870's.. .In 1880 Elias Piersee does not know where his mother was born but lists his father as having been born in Indiana. Later in 1900 perhaps with more knowledge he amends that to Virginia which appears to be right (See notes on his father James). Also Elias was a fireman at a sawmill according to the census below taken in Missouri in 1880.Household In 1900 he is living in Miller township Dallas County under the spelling Elias Percie but it is him as all info fits. His wife appears to be deceased. by 1900. With him are children Marion A, 26, Monte Z 24, , Clifford A 17, Irma M 15 and Della I 13. : Buried AB Cemetery Tunas Dallas County Missouri Birth: Apr. 11, 1846 Death: Jul. 4, 1902 NOTE: While there is an ancestral file where they claim Elias Piersee's wife is a Schrivener, I do not think that is correct. Montezumas wife was a Schrivener. For the woman Schrivener to be the correct last name on the ancestral file the woman would be having two children in her 60's. Plus the Family Search ancestral file is very old before internet access to the proper records. Also the marriage record being found on World Connect file I think shows the proper info.
