While no first name can be found for John Sparrow's father i believe it may be a man named Thomas Wright Sparrow who gets a land grant in Brunswick County on Sturgeon's run which is next to both Difficult and Terrible Creek where John “Thomas” Seymour settles. The land grant is in 1728 and this means that Thomas Seymour would have married his widow Sarah sometime after 1728,

Sarah was married to a Sparrow man according to Some Puckett and their Kin book and also on TK Barnards World Connect file. Also on Some Pucketts and their kin there is an additional son of Sarah and Thomas Seymour not named in his will,Thomas Seymour
