He was born October 26, 1911, in Muncie, KS, the son of Nicholas Raymond and Emma Budy Gabel. On October 13, 1990, he married Muriel E. Baker; she survives him. Nicholas was a farmer. He served in the United States Army during WWII. He was a member of the Wallula Christian Church, Leavenworth. Survivors include his wife, Muriel E. Gabel, Basehor, KS; four stepchildren, Roy Musick, Lansing, KS, Carol Prater, Linwood, KS, Judy Contreras, Pleasanton, KS, and Paula Schlonga, Easton, KS; sisters, Margaret Gabel and Julia Bergman; nephew and god son, Monsignor Robert Bergman; nephews, Raymond Bergman, Kenney Bergman and Leon Bergman; niece, Carolyn Slaughter. He was preceded in death by a nephew, Dan Reardon. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday, June 18, at the Wallula Christian Church, 23785 139th St., Leavenworth, KS, where funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, June 19; burial in St. Patrick Cemetery, Kansas City, KS.
