John L WESSLEY & Carrie D HOYT
Father: John L WESSLEY, b. 24 Oct 1854, Illinois, d. 9 Mar 1928
Died of a cerebral embolism. He was a bricklayer. Unfortunately his parents are listed as unknown on his death certificate. He lived at 3010 Cypress at the time of his death. Many of the Wessleys resided on Cypress throughout the years. John L Wessley was born in Illinois according to the 1900 Census and his death certificate. He and his wife and children lived on Walrond in Jackson County Missouri in Kansas City. He lists his occupation as a stone mason. Many of his descendants would go on to be brick layers. The 1900 Census gives his birth year as 1859 a bit later than his death certificate date of 1854. While his death certificate does not list his parents he does say on the 1900 Census his father was born in Ohio and his mother was from Indiana. In 1910 he advises both his parents were born in Indiana.
Mother: Carrie D HOYT, (daughter of Edward Y HOYT), b. 22 May 1858, New York state, d. 22 Jan 1955, Jackson County Missouri
She died of chronic myocarditis that brought on heart failure and was senile as well. Carrie's father's name is listed as spelled Hoyt on her death certificate. Her parents are listed as both being born in New York as was Carrie herself on the 1900 Census. In 1910 Jackson County Missouri census Carrie has changed her father's birthplace to Connecticut. Indeed the Edward Y Hoyt who is married to Verletta in Middlesex New York is born in 1827 Connecticut.
