While many neighbors found “Col.Singleton” a prudent man, he was a heavy drinker who came to hate his youngest son, William, believing at times that William was sleeping with a slave woman, Harriet, and at times believing that William wanted to kill him. When he left William and a daughter out of his will, they were successful in having the will overturned. See IN RE SINGLETON'S WILL, 8 Dana 315 (1839 Listed in several FamilySearch files as the father of John Singleton born in Dec 1788 of Virginia. Other files have the same John Singleton born to this man in Kentucky. It is worth noting that Virginia was a huge area that later was divided into many states including Kentucky. Can first be found In Woodford County Kentucky Census in 1820. He does not appear on the 1840 Census as he is deceased in 1836 at the age of 70. And from the book Baptists on the American Frontier. Jeconias Singleton (1766-1833) was a son of Manoah Singleton and Sarah who was a member of the preaching Craigs. Jeconias married Jane Taylor about 1786. Was a Captain in the War of 1812
