JOHN FORMAN7 SEYMOUR (Henry6, Moses5, Moses4, John3, John2, Richard1), born at Pompey Hill, Onondaga County, N.Y., 21 Sept. 1814, died at Utica, N.Y., 22 Feb. 1890; married first, at New Haven, Conn., 4 May 1839, FRANCES ANTILL TAPPAN, born 20 Dec. 1815, died at Utica, N.Y., 5 Sept. 1860, daughter of Arthur and Frances (Antill); he married second, his second cousin, HELEN LINCKLAEN LEDYARD, who died 5 June 1880.
He was graduated from Yale College in 1835.

HORATIO8 SEYMOUR (1844-1907), B.A. (Yale, 1867), M.A. (1871), became an assistant engineer on the Erie Canal in 1874. He blocked the unlawful demands of contractors, and the facts he discovered were influential in leading Gov. Samuel J. Tilden to his exposure of the canal frauds. He was State Engineer and Surveyor of N ew York, 1878 to 1881. He moved to Michigan in 1882, and became head of the Michigan Iron and Land Company at Marquette. In 1905 he retired, and returned to Utica, N.Y. He was an Episcopalian; and a Democrat.
