26. MOSES4 SEYMOUR (John3, John2, Richard1), of West Hartford, Conn., born at Hartford, Conn., 17 Feb 1710/11, died at West Hartford 241) Sept. 1795, in his 85th year. He married at Hartford, 14 Mar. 1737/8, RACHEL4 GOODWIN, baptized at Hartford 22 Jan. 1715/16, died at West Hartford 232) July 1763, in her 47th year, daughter of Nathaniel3 (Nathaniel2, Ozias1) and Sarah (Easton).

Moses Seymour settled in the West Parish of Harford, now West Hartford, where he and his wife and some of their children are buried. He lived east of his brother Timothy, at the foot of the hill, where Romanta Seymour's house afterwards stood. He was admitted to the church in 1746, his wife before 1757. In his will, dated 25 July 1791 and proved 11 Dec. 1795, he names sons Moses, Aaron, and Samuel, and daughters Sarah, Rachel, Dorothy, Katy, and Eunice, of whom the last was unmarried in Dec. 1795.

(2) Ruth (Skinner) Gay, who d. 21 Sept. 1820, aged 81.

DOROTHY, b. 13 Oct. 1746; d. at Lebanon, N.Y., 5 June 1819; m. at West Hartford, 17 Feb. 1778, as his second wife, ABRAHAM6 WEBSTER, b. at West Hartford 17 Sept. 1751, d. at Sullivan, N.Y., 4 Aug. 1831, s. of Noah5 (Daniel4, John3, Robert2, John1) and Mercy (Steele) and brother of Noah Webster, the famous lexicographer. Through his mother, Mercy Steele, he was a descendant of Gov. William Bradford of the Plymouth Colony. He m. (1) 11 Jan. 17756, Rachel Merrill of New Hartford, Conn., who d. 18 Jan. 1776, in her 24th year, and m. (3) 19 Feb. 1822, Eunice Childs of Deerfield, Mass.

(2) in Feb. 1798, Rebecca Belden, who d. 19 Aug. 1801, aged 36, dau. of John and Rebecca (Reynolds) of Wethersfield.
