76. Aaron Seymour

76. AARON5 SEYMOUR (Moses4, John3, John2, Richard1), born at Hartford, Conn., 4 Mar. 1749, died at West Hartford, 20 Aug. 1820; married 12 Jan. 1775, ANNA6 PHELPS, born at Litchfield, Conn., 2 Jan. 1754, died at West Hartford, 5 May 1823 aged 69, daughter of Capt. Edward5 (Edward4, Joseph3, Timothy2, William1) and Hannah ( Marsh).

He served in the Revolutionary Army, and was at Saratoga at the Surrender of Burgoyne. He was a farmer on land inherited from his ancestor, John Seymour, which continued in the family until 1876 or 1877. He and his wife were admitted to the church in West Hartford in 1775.

He m. (1) 5 June 1795, Ann Hamlin of Middletown, b. 1771, d. 10 Mar. 1804. Eight children.

vi. RACHEL GOODWIN, b. 27 Oct. 1786; d. at New Preston, Conn., 20 Nov. 1864; m. as his third wife, 21 Dec. 1823, STEPHEN6 COGSWELL, b. at New Preston, 1 Sept. 1771, d. there 29 Oct. 1837, s. of Major William5 (Edward4, William3, William2, John1) and Anna (Whittlesey). He was a farmer and mill owner and Captain of the militia. He m. (1) May 1791, Anna Camp, who d. 22 Oct. 1810. He m. (2) 11 Dec. 1811, Susanna Whittlesey who d. 19 Feb. 1823.
