143. JOSEPH WHITING6 SEYMOUR (Capt. Zebulon5, Zebulon4, John3, John2, Richard1), born at Hartford, Conn., 8 Jan. 1762, died there 8 Sept. 1815 aged 53; married first, LOVISA WARNER, born about 1760, died at Hartford, 31 July 1798, daughter of Eli; married second, 22 Dec. 1799, Lucy (SHARP) BALDWIN, born —, died at Richmond, Va., July 1842, widow of Jacob Baldwin.

His will, dated 29 Aug. 1815, proved 12 Sept. 1815, named son Hezekiah, two youngest sons James Madison and Patrick, and “my eight children, viz. Hezekiah, Lovica Ann, Fanny, Lucy Warner, Eliza, Julia Ann, James Madison, and Patrick.” “It is my will that my four youngest children … do not elect for their guardians any person not now an inhabitant of Hartford, and among said inhabitants I only except Mr. Nathaniel Webb. If any of my said four youngest children go contrary to this my will, his or her bequest shall be forfeited.”

vi. Lucy WARNER, b. 11 July 1796; d. at Columbia, N.H., 3 Dec. 1878; m. 18 Apr. 1816, ORA STODDARD, b. at Hinsdale, N.H., 26 July 1791, d. 3 Feb. 1861, s. of Thomas and Jane (Pike). Nine children.

(2) 15 Feb. 1837. CATHARINE COOKE, b. at Sackett's Harbor, N.Y., 11 June 1819, dau. of Dr. Andrew Benedict and Sarah Ann (Van Deursen); she m. (2) john Adriance of Columbia, Texas. Dr. Cooke was a Surgeon in the U.S. Navy.
