30. Zachariah Seymour

30. ZACHARIAH4 SEYMOUR (Zachariah3, John2, Richard1), born at Hartford, Conn., 24 Sept. 1712, was buried there 24 Aug. 1777, aged 65. He married first, at Hartford, 25 Apr. 1739, SARAH5 STEELE, born about 1716, buried at Hartford 26 Mar. 1759, daughter of Jonathan4 (James3, James2, George1) and Dorothy (Mygatt); and secondly ELIZABETH [possibly CARTER].

Zachariah Seymour settled at Harwinton, Conn., where he lived until about 1754, when he removed to Hartford, and thence about 1764 to Wethersfield, Conn., where he was living shortly before his death. He was one of the Agents appointed by the inhabitants of Harwinton in 1737 to petition the Assembly.

Lydia Seymour (20, i). Their grandfather, Samuel3 Steele, m. Mercy Bradford, dau. of Maj. William Bradford of Plymouth.

He kept a tavern in the days of the Revolutionary War. In his will, dated 8 Apr. 1813 and proved 8 May 1815, he names his eldest son Nathaniel, his son Horace, and his three daughters, viz., Sarah wife of Calvin Seymour, Abigail wife of Timothy Wells, and Elizabeth wife of Chauncey Barnard.

He was a Colonel in the Revolutionary Army.
