Larkins son, George Barton Seymour Sr. (1809-1884), was in the Grainger County Home Guard (CSA) early in the Civil War but, when Gen. James Longstreet withdrew from Knoxville after the Battle of Fort Sanders in 1863, he was attached to Co. G. of the 12th Cavalry Battalion.
