According to the 1900 Census son George states his father Benhart was born in Germany.. I can't locate Benhart himself on a census as of yet to try and guess when he came over.. Because the first child is born in Iowa in 1858 it can be surmised that Benhart and Barbara came over prior to 1858 either separately or as a married couple.

Barbara's son George states on the 1900 Census that his mother is born in Germany as well.
