170. David Seymour

170. DAVID6 SEYMOUR (Jared5, Thomas4, Thomas3, John2, Richard1), born at Hartford, Conn., 1769, killed 15 July 1806 by falling from a bridge he was building over the East Branch of the Oswegatchie River at Hamilton, Ontario, buried near Ogdensburg, N.Y.; married at Springfield, Vt., 1793, NANCY NICHOLS, born 9 Dec. 1773, died 29 Jan. 1861, daughter of Levi and Elizabeth (Sawyer). She married second, Charles Oakes.

He was a carpenter and bridge builder; lived at one time at Fort Covington.

Children, born at Springfield, Vt.:
259. i. GEORGE NICHOLS7, b. 14 Apr. 1794.
ii. HARRIET, b. 15 May 1797; d. 13 Sept. 1853; m. 24 Sept. 1815, ELIJAH BALL ALLEN, b. at Mendon, Mass., 17 Apr. 1791, d. in 1869, s. of James and Phebe (Thayer). Twelve children.
260. iii. ISAAC, b. 23 Dec. 1798.
261. iv. DAVID LEWIS, b. 28 Aug. 1801.
v. NANCY ANN, b. 24 Nov. 1805; d. in 1889; m. (as his second wife), SYLVESTER GILBERT, b. at Otego, Otsego Co., N.Y., 24 Sept. 1787, d. at Ogdensburg, N.Y., 25 Oct. 1865. He was head of the St. Lawrence Bank; his first wife was Lois Ranney. Twelve children.
